The WeserWind GmbH Offshore Construction Georgsmarienhütte is a subsidiary of Georgsmarienhütte Group of Companies which is based in Bremerhaven. WeserWind is a fast growing company specialized on the construction and manufacturing of foundation structures for the offshore-wind industry. These include jacket-, tripod- und monopile-structures as well as complete measuring and control systems and transformer substations.

The manufacturing hall which is currently under construction is located in the fishery port of Bremerhaven. It consists of a production hall (45,000 m²) as well as further storage areas (70,000 m²). Simultaneously the series-production of Tripod-foundation structures on the open area has started at the beginning of November 2008.

The WindMW GmbH is responsible for the construction and managing of the offshore wind farms Meerwind South and Meerwind East. These two wind farms comprise eighty 5-MW wind turbines with a total capacity of 400MW. In the future 500,000 households will be supplied with electricity and up to 1.4 million tons of CO2 will be saved compared to coal-fired power plants.

By the end of 2013, the full commissioning of the wind farms is planned, which will be built starting 2012 approximately 23 km northwest of Helgoland in the North Sea.

For further development and construction of the offshore wind farm Meerwind, the WindMW GmbH was founded by the shareholders Blackstone and Windland Energieerzeugungs GmbH.

The Wind Tunnel Centre of Deutsche WindGuard GmbH which provides state of the art technology suitable for use in a wide variety of application.

The Wind Tunnel Centre consists of two wind channels that provide unique and different possibilities of applications. The larger wind tunnel is situated in Bremerhaven and is particularly suitable for acoustic and aerodynamic research because it has been acoustically optimized to reduce background noise. The size of the wind tunnel also permits investigations on large-size construction component and realistic models.

The DKD wind tunnel located in Varel is specialized as an anemometer calibration laboratory. In addition, sensors for wind speed and wind direction are developed and optimised.

Deutsche WindGuard is accredited as a calibration laboratory by the Deutsche Kalibrierdienst (DKD) (for the calibration of anemometers). Since 2005, Deutsche WindGuard Wind Tunnel Services GmbH is accredited by MEASNET as well.
