By 2025, the wind energy shall supply a quarter of Germany's electricity. In this process the production offshore plays an important role. By the year 2030 wind turbines are planned in the German North and Baltic Sea with a capacity of about 25,000 megawatts.
To achieve these goals, it needs a close cooperation between industry, science and government bodies.
In Bremerhaven a number of companies of the offshore wind industry have already settled, because here they find the best conditions. The City of Bremerhaven and the State of Bremen have created with large investments an industry-specific infrastructure which you will hardly find anywhere else.
Because of its specially equipped ports, industrial areas on the sea deepwater, test sites for multi-megawatt plants, excellent research centers as well as a strong network Bremerhaven has become the most important European center for the offshore wind energy industry.
